If you have plenty of time and loads of patient then Angling or Fishing could be a very interesting sport for you. Fishing is an Eco-friendly sport which require great patient and lots of time. This sport would not suite for those who are out of patience when they loose a fish or get tired while waiting for their catch. Nepal, the world’s second rich country in the water resources having numbers of rivers and lakes, is an ideal location for pleasure of fishing and angling.

Nepal is a land of diverse topography, climate, ethnicity and biodiversity. Within an average breadth of about 150 km, the altitude varies from 60 meter above sea level to the world’s highest peak Mount Sagarmatha scaling 8848 km it has three large river basins namely Koshi in the east, Narayani in the central and Karnali in the west. The rivers of Nepal supports more than 100 species of fish including the human size catfish known as Gonch, famous sporting fish the Mahasheer and delicious species the Jalkapoor

Nepal with its glacial and spring fed river systems that drain the Himalayas is home to this great fish
Mahseer are found up to an altitude of three thousand feet. These fish follow an upstream migration pattern a few times a year, though primarily in the months of July and August. This migration is an important element of the fishery and makes the fishing interesting and productive once the fish are on the move.

These fish are best taken on lures, flies and live bait during day and night. When fishing for the Mahseer, there is no set timing of exactly what time of the day to fish in, it is just a matter of the time of the year and locations. There is vast selection of lures and flies that one can use for the Mahseer, again depending on a variety of situations you may be fishing in, like clear spring fed rivers are always the most tricky as the fish are very spooky in the clear water and they have to be assaulted with caution and timing.
The rapids can be another productive situation for the Himalayan Mahseer, as they are likely to take even in fast water at certain times. The pools are where most anglers like to fish – hence the statistics of catches are highest there and at the mouth of a rapid. Lakes are more predictable, due to the stable temperature. When fishing for the Mahseer one should be open to possibilities as the fish can take at anytime, and anywhere.

The fishing method for Himalayan Mahseer is quite like fishing for Steelhead or the Salmon, where one is fishing the swing or the drift. The Himalayan Mahseer is a spooky fish, and if one is expecting to catch twenty fish a day then one is asking for disappointment. These Himalayan Rivers are a big fish fishery which offers a shot at the trophy Mahseer, and fewer numbers. The fish here average 5 to 14 lbs, depending on the river you are fishing, and often one can see the monstrous Mahseer, which can grow in excess of 70 lbs, in the crystal clear waters of a spring fed river as the Mahseer swim and feed in the shallow swift water at the mouth of the rapid.

One of the most famous religious places of pilgrimage of Nepal is Gosainkunda lake, situated at an altitude of about 4,360m. The best approach to Gosainkunda is through Dhunche, 132-kms north east of Kathmandu.

Gosainkunda Lake, a sacred lake for both the adherents of Hindu and Buddhist faiths, is also known for wonderful scenery. Ringed by high mountains on the northern and eastern sides, the lake offers a fascinating sight. In addition to its status as a place of religious importance, the Lake also offers stiff challenge to the trekkers.

Gosainkunda Lake is believed to have been created by lord Shiva when he thrust his trishul (trident) in to a mountain to extract water so that he could cool his burning throat after swallowing poison. There is a large rock in the center of the lake, which is said to me the remains of a Shiva shrine. People often claim that they see Shiva lying in the water. Devotes gather here in hordes ion the full moon night of August to take holy dip in the lake.

Village tourism has been emerged as a very new cocept in the Nepalese tourism industry. Nepal is normally popular in the world for the adventure travel, white water rafting and great jungle safari, staying at the specially built resorts or the self pitched tents. A brand new concept of village tourism where the guests – YOU would be taken to the carefully picked up village where you would be given the chances to know the local people, their culture by allowing them to stay on one of the house as a family member. A few guest room and kitchen are developed without disturbing the village environment.

Village Tours are normally conducted in Sirubari, Bandipur, Kakani and Gorkha. And Adventure Silk Road is operating the tour in other parts of Nepal too at the Chepang Village, Ghalegaun Village, Gorkha Village, Dhading Village, Lumbini Village, Balnthali Village.

With the globalization of the village tourism, many countries, including Nepal, have been promoting beautiful villages as destinations for village tourism. Throughout the world, village tourism has been identified as an important tool to alleviate poverty in rural areas. In Nepal too, many villages has been identified as destination for village tourism.

This is one the hottest question about Nepal. With so much struggles being happening in Nepal to make Nepal a fully freedom country, there is tremendous profile of Nepal on the Internet these days. Just think of what you could not find about Nepal during Royal Coup period and now after the democracy has been restored in the country.

Republic Nepal is here whether it will actually happen or not. Internet has no doubt played an important role in getting people’s messages across the globe. “No Ruler Can Stop The Voices of Its People”, and our Nepali King honors that slogan today.

Peacefully declaring Nepal a federal democratic republic, Nepalis have overcome the greatest hurdle that had stood against inclusive development, and demonstrated the world how the people could tear down the so-called mighty authoritarian regime peacefully.

This could be the example for all people to engage in a peaceful manner for gaining the fundamental rights and ending the injustice in the society rather than attempting to do so violently disregarding the loss of so precious human lives and properties. People engaged in violence for justice need to take the example of Nepal for ending the injustice peacefully.

Indra, the ancient Aryan god of rain, was once captured in the Kathmandu Valley while stealing a certain flower for his mother, Dagini. He was imprisoned until Dagini revealed his identity and his captors gladly released him.

The Indra Jatra festival celebrates this remarkable achievement (villagers don’t capture a real god every day of the week). In return for his release Dagini promised to spread dew over the crops for the coming months and to take back with her to heaven all those who had died in the past year.

like most festivals of Nepal, both Hindus and Buddhist unite to celebrate the festival of Indra Jatra. This festival is celebrated by both Hindus and Buddhists with great enthusiasm. It is also believed that Indra Jatra is a festival of classical dances. It is on this very day when one is able to observe numerous varieties of traditional dances. The festival is named after Lord Indra who is known as the god of rain and also as the king of heaven.

The king of Nepal, the only Hindu king in the world, also pays homage to the Kumari during this period. The festival’s many interesting dances, including the Procession of Living Goddess-Mahakali, Mahalaxmi and Dasha Avatara masked dances are staged in Kathmandu Durbar Square, near the Kumari Temple. The “Dasha Avatara” refers to the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu who is one of the Hindu’s Holy trinity.

The day before all this activity, three golden temple chariots are assembled in Basantapur Square, outside the home of the Kumari Bahal (a living goddess). In the afternoon, with Durbar Sq packed with colourful and cheerful crowds, two boys emerge from the Kumari’s house. They play the roles of Ganesh and Bhairab and will each ride in a chariot as an attendant to the goddess. Finally, the Kumari herself appears, either walking on a rolled-out carpet or carried by attendants so that her feet do not touch the ground.
